Georgia’s story

A Woman Sits At A Bar Table Next To A Window Reading A Book

Igniting open conversations around workplace wellbeing

MHFA® training isn't only for when someone's in a crisis. Georgia shares how being a Mental Health First Aider has transformed her approach to mental health awareness and support.

"I have experienced poor mental health from a young age due to trauma, and so have many other members of my family. Seeing how it affected everyone so differently made me understand why having mental health first aid training is invaluable."

"Having the necessary mental health skills, awareness, and knowledge allows me to not only help others but also raise awareness of other mental health issues. Working as part of Essex County Library and within a role that is customer-facing, you never know who you will see and deal with on a day-to-day basis. Becoming a Mental Health First Aider has allowed me to think more broadly and remember that you never know what is going on for people behind closed doors. "

Additionally, I have been able to better support my own mental health. Overall, I found the training to be really inclusive and to the point. Being able to share my lived experience without judgment definitely helped me and allowed other people to see a different perspective."
